ROTARY CLUB OF CHENNAI VELACHERY CHARTER MEMBERS INDUCTED, PRESIDENT AND OFFICE BEARERS INSTALLED AND NEW PROJECTS ANNOUNCED

Press Release Summary: The Charter Members of the Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery
were inducted, the President and Officer Bearers of the Club were installed and new
Projects were announced today in a glittering function organized by Rotary Club of
Madras North at the Madras Race Club, Chennai

Press Release Body: Rtn. A.S. Venkatesh, District Governor of Rotary International
District 3230 inducted the Charter Members into the newly formed Rotary Club of
Chennai Velachery and installed its President and office bearers at a grand function
held at Dr. MAM Ramaswamy Stand, Madras Race Club, Guindy, Chennai at 6-30 p.m. on
Wednesday, 2nd April 2008.

Rtn. A.S. Venkatesh was the Chief Guest and Rtn. Suresh Krishn, President, Rotary
Club of Madras North was also present among the dignitaries.

Rtn. K.R. Mukundhan, the newly installed President of the Rotary Club of Chennai
Velachery, in his acceptance speech, announced that the new Club has plans for
several long-term Projects also, in addition to the Projects lined up for immediate
implementation. "There shall be no children below 15 years not going to school in
Velachery by 2012. There shall be basic medical facilities for all by 2013. And,
there shall be no beggars in Velachery by 2015" the new President said.

The Chief Guest Rtn. A.S. Venkatesh expressed his confidence that the Velachery Club
will be a model Club in the R.I. District 3230.

The following Projects were announced on the occasion:
Ø Eye Donation Project: A large number of Pledges received were handed over to the
Rotary Rajan Eye Bank
Ø Bus Shelter Project: Talks are on to provide a Bus Shelter near the Velachery
Railway Station in co-ordination with the Corporation of Chennai
Ø Green Velachery Project: This Project covers planting of 5000 tree saplings in
Velachery with the help of the Corporation of Chennai and the Forest Department
Ø Interact Club: It has been planned to start an Interact Club in a local school by
the 2nd week of June 2008
Ø Vocational Training Project: In this Project, 5 unemployed persons will be
identified and helped to set up road-side puncture shops
Ø Eradication of Rat Fever: Arranging for testing equipment in Velachery to detect
cases of rat fever, as Velachery is prone to rat fever

Rtn. B. Sree Kumar, the newly installed Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. The
function ended with National Anthem.
